After over forty years of passionate collecting, I am embarking
on a transformative journey to find new homes for the V Bomber
cockpits and parts that I have meticulously curated. This
long-term project has not only been a labour of love but also a
significant financial investment. While my hope was to find a
buyer for the entire collection, I am now ready to explore new
avenues that ensure these historic pieces continue to be valued.
I am thrilled to announce that I have donated the cockpits of
Victor XH669 and Valiant XD826/WZ826 to the Imperial War Museum
at Duxford. This decision was made with great pride, knowing
that these iconic pieces of aviation history will undergo
further restoration and ultimately be showcased for future
generations to appreciate. The significance of these aircraft
goes beyond their physical form; they represent an era of
innovation that deserves to be celebrated.
The internal restoration I undertook is extensive and reflects
my unwavering commitment to preserving the integrity of these
cockpits. While I was unable to repaint or complete the external
surfaces, I have every confidence that IWM Duxford will honour
this legacy with the meticulous care and expertise it deserves.
Their dedication to historical preservation aligns perfectly
with my vision for these remarkable artifactson
this video.
I invite you to witness the results of my internal restoration
work, showcasing the details and craftsmanship that went into
preserving these pieces before their transfer to Duxford. It is
a testament to the hard work and dedication that has gone into
this project over four decades.
My commitment was not just about acquiring parts; it’s about
preserving a legacy that celebrates aviation history and
ensure that these extraordinary pieces find the recognition and
appreciation they deserve.
